    Re: One for the ‘Smegheads’

As Tim says, the airbox leaks where it joins the softener unit (left side). I have found an instant fix for this with no adhesives and no waiting. Unclip the airbox and remove the ‘O’ rings. Fit 2 small section ‘O’ rings on the end of the nozzles (they must stretch to fit) and slide them up to the shoulder. Refit the original ‘O’ rings and push the nozzles back into the softener unit until the clip clicks into place. The small ‘O’ rings sit inside the larger original ones and when compressed, take up the shrinkage in the original ‘O’ rings and the stretch in the airbox clip. Never had one leak again. 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

The cheap ceramic elements are of the “crinkle chip cutter” design and not remotely similar.
Have a look at this on Connect, Mike – (5031681354552); it might be just what you need. 😉

Re: Hotpoint experts – HS93X hood problem.

Thanks, Jim – looking at that info I can’t see anything else apart from the PCB or a problem with the windings in the motor that could cause that fault. Two PCB’s giving the same fault? Not really likely as the new one cured the lamp fault but not the speed control problem. Hmmm. 🙁

Thanks again Jim, that info was very useful!!

    Cheers,

    Steve.

E8 is faulty water alternating valve. Usually leak slightly and stop: or the leak short circuits the switch on top. Slight water trace in the centre of the base tray is the giveaway……… 😉 Common problem.

    Hope that helps,

Re: Elba 692.1 single oven grill element and selector switch

Selector switch looks like 5031685156800 on Connect site. Elba has been absorbed by DeLonghi, so if that selector is not the right one, get Connect to do a PNE on that model number as they are the authorised agent for DeLonghi in the UK. Or you can just search Connect with “Elba selector” or “Elba element” and it’s all there. 😉

    Hope that helps,

Re: John Lewis Induction hob JLBIIH603

It’s an Electrolux group badged unit……but you have to consider if the 5 year warranty that John Lewis often give on their own brand appliances is worthwhile even if the hob is cheaper branded as Electrolux, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix or AEG.

Suffice to say, with ‘Lux stuff it probably is…… 😉

Re: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.

I am going to contact Phil later this week to nail down the 24th September WTA / UKW meeting at Hilton Bromsgrove.

    Points to clarify:-

    1) Do we reveal at the meeting our agreement with Qualtex, or are we going to do it before?

    2) Did Connect reply?

    3) Qualtex wants to do a presentation on the link with the WTA, what Qualtex has to offer us as a TA and to show some new products to the attendees. Are there any topics that are, shall we say, “out of bounds?”

    4) Masterpart presentation. Are they doing one? If so, we need to make sure that the two companies don’t appear to tread on each others toes. I’ll try and get Phil to outline what he wants to talk about so we can hopefully stop that happening.

    Thoughts please!!

    Re: Diplomat ADP8352 dishwasher overfills.

Checked the pressure switch by blowing into it on fill and by test meter. Seems fine. I even took the wiring off the pressure switch (2 tags) and joined them together manually. The pressure switch seems to be irrelevant and doesn’t alter the machine’s behaviour at all.
Got to be the PCB methinks….. 🙁

    Re: Diplomat ADP8352 dishwasher overfills.

    Thanks, Loopey!
I looked for the wiring coming from a flowmeter and there is definately no sign of anything bar the pressure switch on this machine. Indesit flowmeters are usually fitted in line with the valve before the airbox. The airbox photo on Connect doesn’t show one either. 😕 The parts list is quite extensive….but no mention of a flowmeter.

Is it possible to get an overfill fault with a PCB?

Re: Currys tech guys cleaning service

Note that this service is only valid if you book it while you have a machine under 12 months old….. 😯

Firstly, what a rip off!! Machines under 2 years old shouldn’t need that level of attention.
Secondly, if they are safety testing, cleaning with industrial strength agents and dismantling to clear the “fluff vents” on washer drier models, doesn’t that immediately void your manufacturers warranty? I think it probably would……. :rolls:

Sounds like Currys are desperate for work; any work; even if it means making misleading statements that have no basis in fact. :rolls:

Dick Turpin is alive and well it seems………… 😉

    Re: AEG 72640 washer

Oxidised connections on the user interface (control panel) PCB causes this fault. Remove the control panel, unplug the blue cables from the PCB. Clean the edge connector tracks both sides of the PCB. With pliers, gently pinch the plug to tighten the terminals. Refit the control panel and all should be well. 😉 It’s a common problem with the EWM2000 PCB sets.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

Ahh…….I took the board in and they gave me the part……sorry, lost the pack it came in. 🙁
In hindsight, that would have been useful…….. :rolls:

You could try “Search” as loads of people have done this – they may have posted the part number.

It’ll probably be the front module behind the kickstrip.
All based on the assumption that you have already checked the brushes, the motor for earth leaks and the filter……… 😉
