Re: Down to earth elements.. Any Ideas???

Used one van stock (been on the van a few weeks) picked up two more and used an alternative off the van all were 3 – 4 Meg ohm and didnt get past the first 3 mins before going dead short.
Took two back and binned the rest. The oven wasnt worth any more time and decided to bin the job. The oven cost £52 off Ebay. Did get a labour charge at least but not much job satisfaction there.

very strong possibility the interlock has taken down the control board. remove the console and check for blown tracks behind the control board. very likely to have blown the track….

Its not unusual for smaller companies to take orders and process them through the bigger players, you dont need to look far in this business to see that. Often the prices and terms seem better than buying from the trade site also.
Like previously said if you accepted it, used it and got paid for it. Happy days. Get your hand in your pocket 😆

Ironically you can lock the rear doors so they wont operate via the central locking on the combo van, its a real pain having to unlock using the key, but no where near as much of a pain as losing a tool kit.
Its all the little things like the bag of assorted screws and bits and the can of WD that was in the case, that you suddenly realise youve not got it.
The sat nav safe sounds a good idea? I will google it and look into this one.

A good quality pair of bent nose pliers, if the ends are small enough then they can be used to release the tab as well.

Might be wrong but dont think they still publish hard copies and if they do they will certainley hit your profit margin..

Theres been a few similar queries about ovens heating up and tripping, First time I got one like this, it would trip when heating, when I attended I took the oven out heated up without the door on and nothing.. refitted very next day tripped. new element sorted it, but could find it with a insulation test.

Check if its got the water sensor (flow switch) in the sump. Its a black grill on the right hand side of the sump. If it has they often clog with gunge and the flow of water wont activate the microswitch, hence shuts down pretty much when you state.
You can access this from the base with the plinth off, if your really lucky and ive been several times you can flush it out with some hot water and a syringe without removing it. (always worth a go).

Its a bit like the blocked sump hose on the Bosch easy to miss but dead simple when you know its there. 😆

    Re: Usefull syringe

look out for your local district nurse and talk nicely to them. They still do have them for flushing, well…..leave it at that.
Benefit of being married to a district nurse ….. always have a box of 50ml syringes in the car.
Wonder if she has realised I keep helping myself ? 😛

Re: can a company not pay you if it snows

I can see your logic but it doesnt work like that. You are classed as working mobile. The fact the van is parked on your drive doesnt say alot. Your place of work is each and every service call you make. Where engineers are paid for a number of hours per day many employers actually start to clock the engineers times when they get to the first call. Acas also see it like that. (Reasonable travel time but thats taking another tangent).

If you made the effort and couldnt get then a reasonable employer would honour this I am sure. Or like Alex or Jackal stated if you were stood down by your Company its reasonable to expect to get paid. If you simply rolled over in bed then I am sure you wouldnt expect. Like they say you cant get something for nothing. 😉

Bear in mind all the self employed guys on here if they dont get out they dont draw any money from anyone.

Re: can a company not pay you if it snows

I would think that if you havent attended they probably dont have to, if its seen as you not turning in for work (although out of your control) but most would especially if its been seen that you actually attempted to travel and the effort has been noted. On the part of the employer its goodwill if nothing else, especially if youve got a good attendance record. If you dont have then theyre probably hacked off with that anyway.
Seriously if attendance is good and you made the effort explain this and appeal to the voice of reason.

    Re: hotpoint C361EW electric cooker

Had a similar situation with a Neff double oven, intermittently tripped out the RCD, insulation tests showed nothing. It would heat up to the set temp and trip. reset and it was ok, if you then raised the temp setting it would be fine until the stat opened again.
Eventually tracked it to a faulty element????
Seemed hard to understand why it would throw the rcd when the circuit was broken. Could only put it down to an out of balance on the RCD circuit. New element and its been fine ever since.
Definately try a new element, easy to fit, cheap to buy. Probably the quickest way to test it out and its not the end of the world if its not that. (which I strongly suspect it will be) 😉
