That’s certainly an unusual one…pcb’s are usually a safe bet with strange faults on these 😉

PS – are these the type of thermostats that can be reset?
No…one is self resetting (running stat) the other is a one-shot (safety stat)

I don’t have hot water available, can I run cold water to the hot water input?
ThanksYes that’s perfectly ok…get yourself a ‘y’ piece and connect both hoses to the hot tap 😉
Incidentally, unless the source of your hot water is very close to the machine, the time saving using hot as well is very small anyway.

Yes….Penguin45’s advice still stands for this model 😉

ParticipantRe: Bosch SGS66A02GB/17 – wash time too long
You might want to check for continuity through the heater 😉
IIRC the 1 minute left you were experiencing is actually error code 1 which means ‘no heat rise detected in the alloted time’
It’s not unknown for the heaters to let go on these…and not a quick diy job unfortunately.
If you need one, email to Shop@ part no. 483058 around £75 plus the usual, don’t forget to unplug before going in :zap:

In my opinion Merloni are very short sighted. They don`t provide tech info so I try and not sell their appliances. I now keep 1 Hotpoint w/m in store because some people insist on buying Hotpoint no matter what you tell them and this is what Merloni are surviving on at the moment.
I happen to agree with you Bazza on both counts, and we only sell the occasional Merloni (always a hotpoint) to rentals where only the cheapest will do 😉
Why are they like it?…well, you only have to look at the top two news stories on UKWG for Friday 26th October and you’ll see just why…they are chasing the pound/euro/dollar in the most aggressive and efficient manner they legally can, and in that respect i’m with Martin in that the only way they can be made to change is by legislation. After all, what incentive is there for them to just give away some of their profits by giving out information that enables direct competitors to take away some of their work?
Where i differ from Martin is that i believe this could change…it already has in the car industry and in many ways the issues are remarkably similar, and therefore the solution could be similar too…pressure from interest groups such as ourselves, the TA, insurance companies and the general public, giving a high enough profile to make the legislators sit up and listen to their voters.
So i would suggest this thread should be kept a little more on track from Martins original post (and that’s not a reference to you Bazza 😆 )…there is no louder shout than that from united voices 😉

I’d suggest you pm SWERV… he’s been there quite a few times now and has worked out the accommodation, food, drink, g_ambling, golf…and anything else he’s experienced that he’s not owning up to! 😉 😆

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool ADG957 – Rinse Aid problem
A close inspection of the back of the dispenser will prolly reveal all…the plunger inside it may have stuck, or there may be a broken/disconnected linkage. If you take the door apart (careful of sharp edges) you will see the back of the unit 😉
Power off at all times :zap:
If you feel it’s beyond you, then try the link below for a local engineer?

A photo would certainly help 😉
tp post a pic, open an account with an image library such as photobucket (just supply an email addy), load the image(s) up to that site then cut and paste the link in a reply here on the forum….
Until it’s established that the wire is either unimportant, or shouldn’t be there then we couldn’t possibly recommend plugging the machine in i’m afraid.
IIRC some of the Maytags do have an earth strap for the door which attaches to the top hinge…

ParticipantRe: Brandt Oven
Hi Chris….sorry i misread your first post and assumed that the pyro had run leading to the problem which is usually the case 😉
There could be a number of reasons for the problem, and i would suggest you get a professional repairer in to diagnose and quote for the job…these are complex machines and have some expensive electronics inside. It may well be the fan motor is faulty, equally there may be a problem with the electronics not switching it on, either way the pyro function will not operate as it requires this to run during the operation….
You could try the link below for a local engineer? If no luck there (some professionals choose not to service these) then come back to us and we can find the nearest Brandt agent for you.

How many brushes have you soldered into Bosch brush rings Martin i wonder?None!……..I’ve never ever managed it, the two types I tried fitting to the old end frame were a right old BODGE, so I never ever fitted one to a machine. I always but always replace with the genuine Bosch Motor End Housing complete. (They are all fitted with the new type brush holders anyway, very nice they are, proper job. 8) )

ParticipantRe: Siemans hob EH512502E/01
Very interesting Greg…the problem is this one has two knobs to operate it 😕
The fault code flashes E then r then 3 then 7 in both ring displays simultaneously so i assumed that was error no.37?
Does it have a touch board as well then?…i couldn’t get the thing to do anything
