As you are aware this is an all singing all dancing cooker hood. It has a control pcb, a switch panel and a transformer under the hood all of which could be causing the problem. This is not a diy repair and I would suggest you look at repairs@ and find yourself a MFI approved repairer in your area. I am not trying to stop you having a go – but after you have bought the wrong parts a couple of times and racked up £100 or so and still it doesn’t work – you’ll get my drift :rolls:

Try this first – Cancel existing program. Reset on a prewash and start the appliance. Note whether the pump empties the water at the start. If it doesn’t I would suggest a drain pump fault. If it does, it may be a heater fault.

A couple of things to try before you go any further. Switch the power off to the appliance and make a cup of tea. (short delay whilst you drink it) then with the freezer door open and drawers out switch it back on. Listen hard and see if you hear a hum followed by a click. If so you have a fault with the motor (compressor) If you hear nothing then the chances are you have got a thermostat problem. This machine does not use a convertional thermostat but in its place is an electronic control board. Whilst you may be able to diagnose the fault both these items are very expensive – the control board costs in excess of £60+ and to be honest the compressor is probably too expensive to consider. You should be able to find someone on ‘repairs@’ near you that will give you sensible quote.

Ah a misunderstanding – Press the buttons as earlier – hold in for ten seconds, during this period the facia lights will flash, keep the buttons held in and when the facia goes blank tell us what you see. What you are looking for is part of a temperature numeral alight.

ModeratorRe: Have I mortally wounded my SMEG 612?
Doesn’t sound too bad – you have probably blocked the pump or at worst burnt it out. What area are you located and nodoubt someone on repairs@ can give you a hand.

Simon – If I remember right there is two versions of this euro-combi range. One has a digital display the other a selection of leds indicating temperature. If your fault is with the centre led its a freezer sensor fault.

ModeratorRe: Samsung SR-L3928B Fridge & Freezer too cold
First things first – all these type of fridge-freezers are prone to freezing up. In your case this can lead to freezing cold air being ducted into the fridge area of the appliance. This is caused by the thermostatically operated diverter freezing open. Defrost the appliance, towels down first, and then restarting after 48 hours. If it goes back to normal operation thats you problem solved, if not you will need an engineer. You could try repairs@

Power disconnected first please. Rotate motor and see if the clicking happens at one place in rotation. If so you have part of the commutator that has broken off and you require, depending on what type of motor a new armature or a new motor. If however it clicks all the way around you will perhaps get away with brushes. FHP brushes are fairly reliable GDA wear out regularly. To tell the difference – FHP motor has a label indicating its a ‘FHP’ Diagnose fault first and then take the old brushes to your local independent or through shop@ where you can see pictures.
