    Power off and unplug!!!

Check the 2 terminals on the pump in case youve knocked one of the wires. Fairly easy to do accidentally.

Also did you turn the machine upside down or lay it on the r/h/s (if facing front of machine) ?

Re: Quality machines – how much…?

Sounds obvious but have you done the silly checks?

    i.e
    – plugged in & switched on? (including isolation switches that get
accidentally turned off located 3 inches above the worksurface)
    – fusebox tripped?
    – tested another knowingly working appliance like a kettle or hair dryer
    out in the w/m socket?
    – that the power lead hasnt been munched through by rodents/pets…?

    Eliminate those first.

As for the value of the machine, it will depend how well you have looked after it! Indie repair engineers are about the £50-65 mark for a call-out. If theyre an ISE supplier chances are if the machines seen too much wear they wont charge you the call out if you get the ISE through them.

Likewise for any other brand, if they arent an ISE retailer, depends where in the world you are…

And if its a economically viable repair youre quids in. New AEGS arent as solid as those ones, and no longer made in germany.

    Amorya,

If you are part-renting your property it may be worth considering the ise10

if only for the fact i think KWATT was refferring to, was usage. the ise10 engineers have a level and degree of discretion which can be utilised that the bosch engineers cant!

apart from this obviously its worth remembering the cheapest bosch in their range is priced a little higher than an equivalent hotpoint or zanussi cos of the kudos if their brand name! mechanically, a slightly more expensive ise will spank all over a bosch 😛

Re: ISE 10/Maytag – is it the same machine?

i think the biggest thing to remember here is buy a maytag and ull only get a maytag approved engineer out to it post-warranty, at stupid prices.

buy an ise10 and get a ukwg engineer out post-warranty at a reasonable rate…

plus you blates get a faster wash cycle with the ise10…

dont ask me why they fail, but belling, stoves, new world, and diplomat are all affected by this. thats over 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of gas b/i double ovens!

also there is a temp sensor : (thermostat/thermistor – not sure precisely is which) that activates the cooling fan, if this is faulty it wont activate the cooling fan

Re: Zanussi ZWD1470W Washer Dryer Fault Assistance Needed

Spin doctor am i right in assuming you are talking about the dryer element? for my own personal knowledge, wouldnt that throw up a fault within the first minute of self-testing, i cant see why it would wait till it was 10 minutes into the wash otherwise? I would have thought if the fault didnt show up in the first minute, would it not show up till the machine had got to the drying stage?

and regardign the history of the appliance, i dont know where you bought it from and who is still selling the zwd1470 but it was made obsolete nearly 3 years ago and replaced by the zwd14270w almost 2 1/2 years ago, and since revised to a zwd14270w1 about 6 months ago…

If it runs for 5-10 minutes athen aborts, to me it almost sounds like its stuck in test/safe mode or its demo mode. if its demo mode then the tenant has allmost pressed a lot of buttons in one go!

Serivce force iirc are about £85 for a call out. Dont expect them to be able to fix it first time round tho, as they arent actually employed by zanussi, just contract engineers!

Also, remember with a washer dryer, every time the dryer cycle is being used, it will aslo put wear thru the brushes. so say a w/m needed brushes after 5 years, if it was a washer dryer, with the dryer used every time, ud need to replace the brushes after about 3 1/2 years. its worth a look.

Thing is, personally, i seem to get the feeling your after someone to diagnose the problem of your appliance without wanting to pay anyone for the time and effort of inspecting the machine. The thing is unless we can acually see and check the appliance, it makes a diagnosis difficult. Its nigh on impossible if you cant give us any feedback on our suggestions!

It would be different if you could report back on the outcomes of our suggestions but your unwillingness to even check the brushes implies otherwise.

depends how mcuh you hace seen it for. some retailers will inflate the price and sell it as an “almost” smeg at an “almost” smeg price.

shop around and price a few indies against each other and you should get a resonable price for one if you want black silver or stndard colours. you can always peel the gorenje logo off too if you want to be ubersnobbish 😛

Also is this a common fault and if fixed is it likely to fail again?

if it helps ive recently replaced 2 hoover frost free f/f in the last month one that a hoover engineer has put down to a module (£160+ labour) and one that an indie refrigeration engineer has written off – module – again. no quote for spares/labour on that one tho!

also if it helps – hoovers customer service state they apparently dont have any “design faults” on their appliances – therefore its always user error!!!!
