Participantnah, it would flash the dreaded f8
personally, id be making sure the pump was working, and the float switch wasnt activated

Participantunless its in a cold room
we’ve discussed this a lot recently.. if its under 5 degrees, the ntc is way out of tolerance

Participantnow thats just plain wrong
obviously, the machine is not fit for purpose if you cant put a candle under it to defrost it
i recommend that under the sales of goods act that he sues the manufacturer, gets a new machine… then sues the candlemaker for the ensuing flood and of course get a new garage out of it
not to mention compensation for lost time, some new candles, and of course the water bill, which will undoubtedly be higher cos of the flood
since there was no actual mention on either product about NOT using the candle as a source of heat, then surely hes within his legal rights and seek legal advice immediately
hed probably get it too

Participantcompletely different machines
wms are analogue, and have the motors at the top
wmas are digital and have the motor at the bottomhelo_75
Participantits the law and its not ten seconds, its more like one
you wont get much better than a neff
and yes its a saftey device – makes sure theres no gas escape if the flame blows out
ud like to keep your family alive for the sake of holding the knob in for a second or two, wouldnt you?
thought so

Participantall valid points
the samsungs are dire, poor build quality, numerous issues adn they never seem to run for more than 6 months ( you wouldnt believe the numbers)
the beko ones arent a big seller, but , again, there have been issues
i have an lg, its been brilliant, 2 yrs and going strong, no problems… but ive seen some bad ones of them too
thats the difficulty doing warranty repairs, u only see the bad ones
you need to spend the money… sadly, word on the street is that the uk maytag operation isnt fairing too well, and going forward that could cause problems too
its too tough to call, youll hear a million conflicting reports, although most will condemn samsung
i do like the whirlpools, they seem well built, the later ones seem a great deal better.. hopefully youll get one with that ‘slight’ pcb issue modified
hey.. u asked…

Participantzanussi for me

id have a zanussi condenser anyday

ParticipantBEARINGS ARE SHOT MATE
sorry, if its a welded tub, its scrap
if the pump is at the front, its welded
helo_75
Participantemw do now repair he boards, tony told me’
good point about the stats though, they take out the neutral rather than the live, so it fools you if you live test
last on i had, incidentally that was totally dead was the top board, not the bottom
helo_75
Participantits a tacho problem
visual inspection of the motor is required for loose/broken tacho or broken wires
helo_75
Participantsomething worth checking
on your main pcb, at the top, check the bottom edge connectors are on properly
they have a strange piece on the drum which manages to drag one of the plugs off!

Participantno, yours is a sealed metal tank, spot welded from new
might be cheap for the manufacturer, not cheap for you
helo_75
Participantmore likely a duff pcb if its trying to lock the door before its closed
ive had em do that… some are the lock, some are the pcb
only way to be sure is to try a lock, and they aint that cheap

Participantits a sealed metal tank
if the bearings are at fault, then you can see them by taking off the rear crossmember
if theyre bad, and theres any damage to the spider, its a new tank assembly
theyre above £100…..

Participantbest advice anyone can give you is to remove panels and visually inspect..
it could literaly be anything
first port of call is to check if the drums loose, does the drum rumble/whine when turned by hand?
lift the inner drum up and down – does it lift, is there any play?
take the top off, and make sure the pressure switch hasnt fallen off and is banging on the drum, look underneath.. are the shockers worn/broken/loose
youre going to have to investigate im afraid.. plug out of course
i hope this helps
