    Re: True or false?

A couple of definitions from the regs:

    BS7671:2015 (Yellow Book)

Fixed Equipment. Equipment designed to be fastened to a support or otherwise secured in a specific location.

Mobile Equipment. (portable equipment (deprecated)). Electrical equipment which is moved while in operation or which can easily be moved from one place to another while connected to the supply.

Stationary Equipment. Electrical equipment which is either fixed or which has a mass exceeding 18kg and is not provided with a carrying handle.

Movable Equipment – not recognised by BS7671:2015

Now here is where the fun really starts (and probably most of the confusion:

    BS7671:2008 (Red Book)
521.9.2 Stationary equipment which is moved temporarily for the purposes of connecting, cleaning etc., e.g. a cooker or a flush-mounting unit for installations in a false floor, may be connected with a non-flexible cable but if subject to vibration in use shall be connected by a flexible cable or cord.

    BS7671:2011 (Green Book)
521.9.2 Equipment that is intended to be moved in use shall be connected by flexible cables, except equipment supplied by contact rails.
521.9.3 Stationary equipment which is moved temporarily for the purposes of connecting, cleaning etc., e.g. cookers or a flush-mounting units for installations in false floors, shall be connected with flexible cable. If the equipment is not subject to vibration then non-flexible cables may be used.

    BS7671:2015 (Yellow Book)
521.9.2 Equipment that is intended to be moved in use shall be connected by flexible cables, except equipment supplied by contact rails.
521.9.3 Stationary equipment which is moved temporarily for the purposes of connecting, cleaning etc., e.g. cookers or a flush-mounting units for installations in false floors, shall be connected with flexible cable. If the equipment is not subject to vibration then non-flexible cables may be used.

I will let you make your own minds up but as far as I am concerned a cooker subjects its cable to negligible vibration (does you soup vibrate on the top?) and appears to be classified as stationary equipment, therefore I find it perfectly acceptable to connect with non-flexible cable and would be happy to argue the point in court if it ever came to it.

Adjusting the tap will only reduce the dynamic pressure, it won’t adjust the static pressure.

    Re: Nightmare Beko Dishwasher

If the water pressure is too high then it will force the valve open whether it is powered or not – may be worth taking a reading with one of these. Most valves are only rated for 10 bar so if it is close to or above that then it may be outside the design range of the valve (less water is used by people at night so the pressure tends to be slightly higher), if that is the case then the only real solution is fit a pressure reduction valve before the dishwasher.

As HotDog says you can eliminate the possibility of back fill entirely by seeing if the problem goes away after the water supply to the machine is turned off.

If it is turning right off then I would suggest that the power supply chip may be failing or that there is a dry joint on the PCB.

Check the thermal fuse at the back, there is one per side from memory, it may well look like a resistor crimped into the wiring, if so then they have since been uprated as they were prone to blowing for no good reason.

I have done quite a few, put an ohmmeter across the resistor, if it reads a fair bit higher than the 22 ohms then it has failed, if you examine the inductor carefully you may spot a small amount of yellow/white gunk coming out of the side (not easy to see).

Check to see if it is a diaphragm/membrane type dosing pump, if so then the lip valves may have gone. If it is a peristaltic pump then there may be a one way valve just before or after it that has failed.

Check the PCB for burnt out solder joints to the motor.

It doesn’t matter on the polarity on these capacitors.

Does it only do this on programs H to N? If so then there is nothing wrong with the machine,See page 15 of the user manual.

Are the shock absorbers okay? Small load is less likely to balance up and bounce around more.
