this thing is an indesit clone.i have been to a couple where the main spray pump is a very cheap looking copy of the indesit original. it has chinese characters all over it. can you hear the pump humming. if so it may just need a 4mf capacitor. or of course something stuck in it.

ParticipantRe: is this worse job ever
yes it’s a pig.
what i do once i’ve got the seal on the tub i wedge the spring in place at the bottom with my socket set extention bar and kind of hold it with my leg while chasing the spring round and round the seal. i think quickest i’ve done it 15 mins. a mate of mine holds the spring gently with long nose mole grips.keithwilliams
ParticipantRe: Dishwashers ok with extended long hoses??
in theory you can have your hose as long as you like subject to the following.
you would need to route the hose vertically next to the machine and then run it gently downwards to your plumbing outlet. by doing this the pump will only be pumping a head of water to bench height. when it stops running this amount of water will be retained but the surplus will run away due to gravity as if it was in a rigid pipe as suggested.
running the hose along the floor and up at the sink end is NOT a good idea because the pump would have to push an entire hosefull of water whenever it starts up. plus as has already been suggested it will clog up with gunge.keithwilliams
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool adp8500 odd fault
we’ve got a couple of other threads running about this. i’m pleased to see capacitor mentioned here cos i just summised in my thread that this may be the case. please please if any of us solves this for sure can we please let everyone know how.
thanks

i’ve just read this after posting a very similar if not identical thread. when i get back from hols i’ll get the soldering iron onto this thing and let you know what happens. also there are threads about the flow meters on here somewhere cos i repair the boards by buy reed switches from c.p.c.
do a search and you get the info.
also if you get this one sorted please tell us how you did it
thanks

to be honest i couldn’t say. however if it is that then i’ll have a go at it as the same symptoms occur on kef sub-woofers and i fix those by replacing an electrolytic capacitor which smooths the supply to the relay.
i’m away for a week and will have a go then and let you know.

yes this is becoming a common fault so i carry one as a spare. nice easy job.

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWI612C burnt PCB
this will happen if customer always leaves the main on/off switch on. as long as it’s on it is cooking components on the pcb i.e. resistors and electrolytic capacitors. sometimes they die sometimes the burn out and take the board with them.

ParticipantRe: smegg dw
no don’t buy a dispenser. just fit a coil. i’ve done it on my own machine and quite a few others. i agree that the fill empty bit sounds normal but i have had similar symptoms caused by a blockage in the side panel. similar to what happens when a bosch sump hose gets clogged. mind you it did give an overfill error message.

when you open the front panel you’ll see a gasket around the front edge of the soap box housing. i’ve had at least four where there has been a slight leak from here. if it is this then pipe in a thin bead of silicon in the groove and refit the seal. when you reattach the front panel it”ll be o.k.

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWI 612C Drain Pump falt
the machine will be displaying an error code via a combination of lights on the control panel. cross refer this to your manual or for more info a service guide to identify the fault which it thinks it has. the bad news is that smeg dishies can be troublesome, however the most common faults are easily cured.

cheers chris
i’m at the cuystomers house now. i located and removed the switch from the pump housing. i’ve tested contacts are o.k by operating it with my srewdriver.
now i’ve seen it running with covers off i saw that the spray pump is barely creating enough pressure to supply the upper nozzel.
i changed the 10mF capacitor but it made no difference.i think that we must be looking at a new spray pump. do you think this is likely on such a new macjhine? if so can you advise as to cost?
thanks

i get on great with my customers however they are all told that if i cannot get the appliance out easily in 15 minutes then i’ll leave without payment but will return when it’s out. even when i get a verbal indemnity from damage, i’ll still refuse if there’s any chance of damaging something.

ParticipantRe: How much to charge to fit a compressor
this might sound flippent.
on the very rare occasion that someone has questioned the cost of part versus the job i tell them this.
you can buy 80 tea bags for about £1.50 but they’d still happily expect to pay 80pence for one cup in a cafe. they realise then that they are being a bit unreasonable.
they are paying us for a service which they are unable to do themselves, also all of our overheads a warranty on the work etc etc.keithwilliams
ParticipantRe: Miele D/W G1220SC error F014
can i tag onto this thread please?
on friday i went to exactly this dishwasher which was displaying the f14 error code.
after resetting it i tried it on different cycles including cold rinse.it fills o.k. to normal level
it drains water out o.k. when required.
on each cycle i tried the time to end would count down about two minutes whilst first draining out and then filling to normal level. at this point you can hear a buzzing noise followed by the spray pump spraying for a few seconds before stopping.from now on the time to end display does not change. there is a pause of a few seconds before the buzz followed by spray pump again for a few seconds. this goes on for about 8 or 9 attempts before it finally throws out the toys and flashes an f14 fault.
the customer was unsure whether the machine is still under warranty, so i refused to touch it for now. however if i do get the job then a heads-up will be greatly appreciated.thanks
