Re: Indisit WIA121 Motor connector block

Only a hundred quid. That’s Indesit’s retail price with £5.99 delivery to add. I think you get 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off for trade so It’s probably better than paying Connect £78.30 plus vat (out of stock!). At that rate you could do the customer a real favour and call it BER 😆

I’d give her the money back as a “goodwill gesture” and let her see if she can find anyone else within a hundred miles who can do any better. (Then if she ever calls you again, put your call out charge up double.)

Re: Indisit WIA121 Motor connector block

Why should there be any problem with that? As long as it’s all well insulated and cable-tied to the motor wiring plate so that no stress is placed on the connectors themselves and there’s enough length to allow the necessary movement. Might be an idea to securely number all wires for easier reconnection next time it goes wrong. (Which in the case of this model, surely won’t be long 😆 .)

    Re: AEG L52810 motor brushes

I recently started using com sticks again after about 15 years of not doing so and found that (especially Bosch) motors seemed to settle down a lot better after a good clean. Less sparky situations. I follow the clean with a paintbrush in the gaps to make sure there’s no bridges.

    Re: adg644ix

It’s a circular black plastic “grid” in the (left hand IIRC) side of the sump which gets gunged up and needs a gentle brushing to clean. If that doesn’t sort it, it could be expensive trouble. :rolls:

Re: Pat Test Failure Whirlpool ADP4501/5

Interesting. There are a few “calibration days” mostly at electrical wholesalers’ premises. Most of the events though are “Money Talks – Megger shows how electricians can make more money” hosted at various golf clubs around the country. So that’s what it’s really all about. Wonder if Simon from Gosport has booked his place?

I think he means there’s no neutral. All service manual, diagrams, bulletins etc are on Connect’s mediator. Pm me if you can’t find them.

Re: Bosch dishwasher (model to be known soon)

Only thing this suggests to me is heater (hence display dimming) relay on pcb, though I don’t think I’ve ever heard one do that. Relays on those are the usual 12v coil IIRC.

    Re: Hotpoint T/Dryer TL61P Knob

If it’s the shaft of the knob that’s broken off, you can create a new shaft by winding a stiff piece of wire a few times around a suitable similar shaft – usually 1/4″ with flat. Then you just have to find a way to join that to what’s left of original knob. Can be done with good dollop of epoxy putty if it’s light torque. Otherwise may need mechanical re-inforcement by drilling holes and passing wire through body of knob. Have done this with obsolete hob knobs. It’s never going to be perfect but it keeps the machine out of landfill.

Re: Tricity Bendix Strata free st. cooker element 357028401

Thankyou for that, Phidom; it’s a good bit of lateral thinking but they use a wide bracket element. I should have mentioned this one is a 45/50mm bkt. I shall keep the link for future use though. 😉
I’m going to order the Electrue element and see what happens.

have a grill element listed for that model @ £94 though no specs for it so may not be actually in stock. There is a place somewhere that will manufacture an element on a one off basis and I think they will repair the old one, say if it’s one section gone you only pay for that and they do all the cutting / welding to the old bracket. Yep, here it is, http://www.elementreplacement.co.uk/mad … -144-c.asp

Ha ha, not in that kitchen I’m afraid. Anyway checked and rechecked both ntcs. Back one was as before (c. 25k) and front one 12.5k or thereabouts. (20/25 deg in kitchen)
Resistance through carbon brush seemed rather high (k ohms)so I cleaned the drum strip surface with alcohol and re-measured. It went down to 100R or so, although varied a lot around that figure. So I thought that might be it. But it made no difference.
Now as the customer lives in a rather posh house and had only called me because he thought he could save some money and was watching me all the time and not particularly amicable, I decided to leave him in the capable hands of whatever Bosch engineer he can find. (Didn’t want to break his plastic fascia [£47] trying to lever it off.) I told him that it might be the module (£175) and that Bosch would charge him £85 plus parts. So he’s going to look on the internet and see what a new version would cost and consider his options.

Re: Is This The New Craze?

Had a quick look at his other blog posts. Reading the one for 6th Jan. on motor problems he seems to have a very odd way of writing english. It reads like it was cut and pasted from some kind of manual translated from chinese. Very odd.
