Just ignore the p*ss takers, Phidom. I’m sure your warning will come in useful for me.

Re: One piece welded tub seized solid!

In regard to weight of materials going to recycling/incineration/landfill.
If a machine is made to last 10 years or more it tends to be heavier than one that is made as cheap as possible. It is also stuck at the level of water and energy efficiency reached at the time of its manufacture. Green economics is as complicated and fraught with controversy as any branch.
I think there’s room for Miele (and ISE) for a long time yet; just as those, who can afford to, drive Rollers.

Re: DHL and Their Lifestyle Couriers Grrrrr?

Never had a problem with City Link till now. In the past, Masterpart deliveries could be relied upon to arrive between 9.30 and 10.30am.

Waited in all day yesterday, no show. (Got caught up with some paperwork!) Rang 08700 twice – little help – gave me no. for local depot 70 miles away. They don’t answer the phone at all. Tracking on internet says “17.41 – Delivery point closed. Carded” Boll…. er, rubbish! I was here then and no-one came and no card was left.
It’s been “loaded onto a van” at 8am today according to website but I hold out little hope now.
Apparently they’ve recently merged with Target Express :rolls:

Think I’ll request all wholesalers to use Royal Mail from now on – at least I can get it from the sorting office half a mile away.

The thing must be getting on a bit. Wouldn’t think it worth much of your time unless it has sentimental value!

Are you sure it’s not on the defrost cycle (small timer inside IIRC)?
Fan won’t be running during defrost.

New drum paddles arrived and went back today. Can’t believe how easy it was. Five screws hold the dryer assembly to the top of the drum and they all face up at you so you can get at them easily. Move the assembly aside, take out a little filter thing and you have a perfectly placed access opening to get at the back of the drum. Turned the drum round half a turn and there was that sock staring at me. No need for the curtain wire and hook I’d brought with me. Just pull it out with the long nosed pliers.
    Ten minute job.

Been to a WD420 this morning which had same problem. Took out half offending rag via paddle hole but still something invisible is causing a jam. Please somebody come up with a clever fix to avoid necessity of total stripdown (machine in horrible corner of cluttered flat). What about if I took off the dryer manifold? Could I fish around from there?

    Re: tub repair

I once had a putty plug jump out of the hole it was plugging. Even though it was a small hole at the top of the (plastic) drum, water leaked out and got into the motor. Since then I have used bits of old plastic drum lined with silicone/instant gasket/debor and bolted in position with stainless bolts. Or grommets with debor for very small holes.
Having read this thread though I think I’ll pop out and get myself a mini gas soldering iron (and a breathing mask).

Re: Hoover AL130-01 Drum bearing change

I did a spider only job on one of these about a year ago – total pig of a job getting the old spider off. Seem to remember ordinary hpt bolts fitted OK. Bearings at the time seemed fine so replaced b. seal and reassembled. Got a call a week or two ago – “noise like a bag of spanners in there”. Flippin’ bearings were shot. Called it a BER as there was no way I was going through that again.

    in reply to: Philips R2000 t/dryer (30 y. o.) belt? #244428

    Re: Philips R2000 t/dryer (30 y. o.) belt?

Turned out to be a AWB159. It turns out the right belt for that is 1925/1930 j3 so the 1905j3 I got from Masterpart by some fluke (listed as fit for AWB650) just fitted with a bit of a stretch.
    Thanks, Squadman.

When I tapped that model into connect it came up with tumble dryer parts 😕
If it’s a washer tho’ it’s worth checking timer for blown tracks possibly caused by water in interlock (flows fom soap drawer along front).

    Re: constructa vibration

Sounds like a Philips top loader type from the description.
Have you checked for loose balance weights? Or loose motor mounts? Or is it just on a bouncy (wooden?) floor? Or it could be drum shaft fracture I suppose.

    Re: Philco PA207

    Hi Jeoff,
Got one of these rang up just now. Has bought machine S/H a year ago being told by seller it was 2 years old. So that makes it 3 yo now???Reported fault is motor making a little attempt to move but then giving up.
I suppose that could be the module connector or relay terminal burnt but it could be a duff motor. Maybe water will have leaked from the suspension welds or out of that bl**dy awful backplate. As it’s on the edge of my area I don’t want to bother with it unless it’s a machine that’s worth fixing. Anyone know how old it is really?

Re: Zanussi ZWF1621 doesn’t want to play washers any more!!

If it’s a model with the long board/timer behind the fascia then it’s either a motor with condensation on the brush holders (ask for hairdryer) or a relay needs changing in the module. Can’t remember, think it’s RL1 or maybe RL2.
