You should have just e-mailed him a quote and got him to pay you by paypal.
Could be the future way of doing things! 😆

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WT960 Control Board Relay
Not familiar with the later boards but the earlier boards and many washers and dishwashers of various makes use the 12v JS1 relay, or occasionally the 24v version.
Top two items on this page
RSonline
Both rated 10A ac current, so they’re running at their max. Search about, I think there is a 12A version in same package.
I’ve not yet come across one stuck in the on position but there probably will be one, one day. They usually burn out at the contacts or more often the solder connection to the board, leading to no heat.
Your fault sounds more like what johnnyj says.

I often wonder about the OAP’s who say, “I don’t want to buy a new one at my time of life.”
First of all, they’re very likely to outlast another two machines, the way things are built these days. Secondly, if they have the money, they can’t take it with them. If they don’t have the money, they could probably get help from the state.
I guess a lot don’t wish to be a burden; usually the ones who’ve contributed most in the past.

Might save “up to 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the machine’s consumption of electrical energy” but that would be without factoring in anything for the gas or whatever energy you were using to heat the water. There’s lies and there’s statistics and there’s how you string words together. If H+C had been a real energy saver, they’d not have done away with it in the first place.

If no dry joint, try replacing relay. Cut open old one, you may find contacts burnt.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Dishwasher SDW60
Had one not heating the other day. Bit100 card looked alright but opened up the relay and found contacts quite burnt. New relay sorted it.

ParticipantRe: Belling ceramic hob Constantly on
Something tells me you didn’t have enough info on converting from original parts to new ones. If you can’t get info (and there’s something*, I don’t know if it might help, mentioned in the “Diamond H” sticky at the head of the forum)
you could try taking one of the old ones and one of the new ones and taking their covers off to see which terminal does what.

Think Bernard would be disappointed. 😆

:hmm: Do you mean you’ll leave them on all winter or would that be the extra tyre wear caused by slipping?

I did once repair an old WM drum by drilling a hole in the drum and then using a non ferrous bolt, metal and rubber washers and two nuts fashion a heater bollard that lasted for another ten years.Jim.
Excellent work, Jim!I had a situation like this on an old 95 series once. Took me ages to figure out where the tapping noise on spin was coming from. Can’t remember how, but I did fix it.

Hope you get good use out of them Jim. But if these conditions only last a week, you could have just taken the week off instead.
Might try letting a bit of air out of my tyres, see if I get a better grip. 😆

Slim, I’d say!
You have to wonder how much longer an old banger like that can carry on before something major or just obsolete renders it scrap. Then there’s the water and energy use to consider. I threw out three or four modules like those not long ago. Only kept one 2EC38 (1300).

I’d have offered to take the heater back out and refund the payment less call out and labour. 😈

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Phone just rang.
“Are you the person who repairs washing machines?” (Woman, Liverpool accent, maybe 35, assertive.)
Yes.
“Do you cover St Ives?”
No, sorry, not done for years.
“Do you know anyone who does?”
There was a guy in Carbis Bay, not sure if he’s still going, might have his no. somewhere.
“If I rang you back in a little while, do you think you might be able to find it?”
Could do, or I could give you a no. for the Camborne people.
“Thing is, it’s a tenant, we don’t actually live there, and she says it spins but the water doesn’t go out. Thats the drum, isn’t it.” 😆
Er.. no, more likely to be something else.
“Oh, no it’s the bearings, isn’t it. That’s what it was at my house.” :rolls:
Er.. no….
“Oh, well thankyou for your help..” (clunk)
:hmm:
Strange people.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMA
Don’t know if molding gives room to cut slot in a bit further back and then use longer / extended heater bracket? If so you might be able to cut slot using hot piece of metal / modified solder iron and “heater hole surgery”.
