With regards to the engineer timings from experience it will be the person who took the call who screwed up, they have 3 time bands, AM , PM and anytime. if the PM slots are all ready taken then they should only offer you AM or an anytime whitch the engineer chooses on the day based on his route, the issue is these call centre guys just say ok PM even when all the slots are taken and put a note on the call saying PM only. This just is not possible for the engineer to do, then you get let down.

Another note is they work less on a friday this time of year due to summer allocation. After 2 would be a big ask on a friday

    Re: Hotpoint AQXXF149 wont start

I have seen this with a bad program in the module in an Aqualtis before

Had one once that would start all program’s except the fast wash, would just keep flashing amber, reprogrammed it and it was fine after that

Did you day you have changed the board ?

I have not checked but if this is the the ultima model with lcd and power board bolted to the inside at the front that the motor connects to and the control board behind the front facia then check the relay contacts on the power board by the motor harness connector, Iv seen a few blow there, seems to be a week point in the motor circuit.

You may also need to cut off the plug and fit spade connectors as it normally melts the plug as well, always on the neutral i find as well.

Re: Hotpoint AQ9L292U – Sticks in spin cycle

Endless spin is either motor/tacho circuit or pump related,

On brushed motor models check the half field wire in the harness and motor as if its open circuit the motor will never reach full speed and the module just keeps trying to achieve the set spin speed,

all models check pump is draining fine, I have seen pumps cause this, no real reason apart from changing the pump and the problem goes away, modules are also a cause this , a problem in the OOB or tacho circuit seems to be the issue,

Check all the harnesses to the motor and pump, if its draining ok and the pump AND sump are clear(Iv seen so many socks in sumps missed worth a check) I’d bet its an issue with the board, as has been said EMW can’t test everything, Iv even seen it resolved with a reprogram of the eeprom.

I believe try are running a media campaign to try and alert people why may have one.

Difficult situation for all the manufactures if they can’t find it they have no hope.

    Re: Moving Away From China

Country of manufacture does not make a difference its all down to how its designed and what materials are chosen

Take the IPhone, designed by Apple and manufactured in china, the iPhone has consistently been one of the highest quality phones ever built, in fact the iPhone 4 set new benchmarks for any product that’s mass produced. Apple have produced some of the best quality products there is and they all come from china

    Then there is this

Manufactured In the UK, designed in Italy, poor design and cheap materials.

If its building in the heater normally its a blockage or the pump is playing up, you can get a small pool in the older ones but not enough to trip,

However I have found as the heater gets older even after removing the blockage if its been wet they are more likely to trip again with any dampness, fluff and lint builds between the connections and chassis giving an easy earth path when wet. when Iv had one that been wet I normally replace the heater

They have a modified heater cover that has a foam bit and a hole at the bottom to release and evaporate the water away, Iv also seen a lot of guys just remove a bit of the seal at bottom to allow water to pass, mind depending on the floor its not always a good idea

Because its running for a while before it trips id replace the heater and confirm all the water side is correct, also consider the new rear cover / hole option as well

What I normally do is confirm what pin numbers go to what wires with the old lock and replicate this on the new, some times you have to rotate the plug 180 to do this but it normally always fits.

If not can you fit spades connectors on it, in the long run its likely to last longer doing this as well

Its an interesting prospect for some guys in certain areas, however you don’t have to be in a brand new van to offer excellent service.

Personally I’d rather be offering what I believe is excellent service to all rather that aim at a certain bunch of people and screw them for that pleasure

One thing I this day and age is important is being multi skilled.

I’m currently taking my 17th edition update just so I can offer electrical work again, I don’t intend to go full spark again but rite place and rite time ect.

Re: hotpoint wf560 fllashing wash enhance

F08 are heater related and can be problematic to resolve but its telling you some in the heater circuit is not working,

A few basic checks first to try and establish what is happening

How long does it run before giving you the error on a fast wash ?

Does it give the error if you turn it on but don’t start a program just leaving it with the power light on ?

Is it heating water ? Stick it on the fast wash and give it 10 minutes or so and pump it out and feel the water

    Next

First job would be an earth leakage test however you most likely wont have a meter to do this so

To start check the heaters continuity, aprox 26ohm

Next you need to check the pressure switch with and with out water in the drum.

Empty drum pins 11 and 12 should have continuity and pins 11 and 14 should not

The when full of water its the reverse of the above

If good I’d just check the heater NTC connector for corrosion on the connection as this can happen.

If all the above is good its the module
