What Quickfinder are you looking at Jim? Sure they are available seperately (154740)

Nu_User wrote:but how is the condenser cooled?

The condenser is a large aluminium box unit that is slatted to allow the flow of cool air through the condenser chamber. (Forced air cooling and not refrigerated cooling)

Your wife has made a good choice overall 🙂

Re: Functional Test of Brush Motor

Changing the brushes might be advisable whilst refurbishing it although I guess it’s not the cause of the fault.

Have you got readings through the windings etc? The armature reading of 3.8 ohms is passable for sure I reckon!

That setting is known as “Turbo Grill”

jander wrote:The other settings are top/bottom heat

If it works OK on that setting then the THERMOSTAT is working OK 🙂

Now try it just on “Fan Heat”……..does it get warm after a moment or two I wonder (It should do if the element is OK)

Twoten wrote:Would you consider it safe to repair as the moving and electrical parts are not accessible when under the worktop, mention the rear panel is missing and recommend it is replaced?

Moved to the TRADE area by the way 😉

I too have encountered this on 4 occasions where the panels are missing. Bosch, Indesit and Ariston are favourite. Always insist the rear panel is replaced and note your recommendation of safe usage meanwhile if need be. Bearing in mind the hoses can get buggered if you push it against the wall and the drum pulley is fouled.

Wholesalers sell a lot of back panels by the way 🙂

jander wrote:Would that rule the thermostat out of the picture?

It certainly would if the thermostat operated normally using the conventional heat setting yes 🙂

If you set it just on ‘Fan Heat’ only (not Turbo fan by the way) does the fan element get warm at all?…I suspect not 😉

The error code refers to a ‘Heating’ fault. Usually 3 causes for this are Heater, Thermal Sensor or faulty main Module board. Very often it proves to be a combination of all three 🙁

Simmy wrote:Also the motor might be shot (I think knackered is the term in the UK), there is black soot on the end opposite the brushes of the commutator .

    Simmy,

No ‘live wire’ testing please, it is not necessary. The black soot is probably just black rubber ‘dust’ from the drive belt after all. 🙄

Do look closely at the state of the brushes (should be 2 cms long and the tip shiny and smooth) Clean up the commutator, refit brushes and test across the brushes (should be 4 to 6 ohms usually)

Check motor connector plugs and its terminals carefully also, then plug in and run test 😉

What aspect of our trade do you specialise in by they way?

iadom wrote:Also noticed that selecting S2 & S4 to ‘end programme’ switches the display to 0, but it sometimes sticks for several minutes without switching off.

That indicates to me it must be the Module, on reset it should go to “0” then turn off after 60 seconds and not a moment longer.

iadom wrote:I did have a look at the plastic hose that runs along the front of the pump that often gets blocked, it was as clean as new.

If that hose is clear you can bet the turbidary sensor is as well!

Yes it’s the module (I had one last week – sorted thanks to Tony and the lads at EMW 🙂 )

In my case the cold valve was energised on all programmes including spin and just kept filling!!!!!!!!

At last pressure is being put on Yell and their extortionate monopolisation on advertising. Whilst Yell have shrugged off the initial report by the Competition Commission, city analysts predict that Yell must act quickly to stop the downturn in their share prices.

What comes around goes around and they’ve been holding business to ransom for years with vastly overstated claims and pricing. Lets hope they start to play fair from now on?

You didn’t respond to Dave’s question so I will add to it if I may by suggesting you try it empty, set it onto spin and see if it spins OK? My guess, like Dave’s is that your drum bearings are possibly very noisy at the moment?

Does it make a rubblin’ racket I wonder?

    Re: Bosch WFL2860gb/01 Blank display

Got one just the same today, the machine sits in a cold ‘laundry room’ with a vented tumble dryer that isn’t vented and pumps loads of steam into the room!

The display at the time I called was showing gibberish but after I lifted the lid and pointed a small hairdryer at the PCB and warmed it all up it worked fine 🙂

Later in the day after it had cooled some the customer tried using it and its bu&&ered again 🙁 So I will order a new Main Board (401123) I guess as the Display Board I figure must be OK. (My logic being that if the Display Module were at fault you should still be able to set the machine into action. In this case nowt works, so it must be the more expensive option?)

    Hey ho!
