ParticipantThe temp sensor will be ‘cold’ to start with so the element should at least get a voltage on start up.

clivejameson wrote:Also pour just one or two drips of bleach directly into the drain hole once it’s clear…that’ll deal with any residues that would otherwise grow and block the hole again 😉
Clive , i sometimes advise the customer to use a cotton bud dipped in bleach to clean in and around the drain hole 😉

ParticipantHi David , the water normally drains through the hole at the rear bottom of the fridge interior into a small container on the top of the compressor where it evaporates due to the warmth from the compressor .
The drain hole could be blocked with sludge , as Simon says , or a piece of foodstuff .

ParticipantSome of these doors have a sticky seal between the inner and outer sections . Have you tried a flat blade under the inner door edge , slowly levering it away ?
By the look of the diagram , there seems to be 6 screws in total holding the sections together.nomadPaul
ParticipantI ave done the same trick but just remove the drain pump hose from the bottom of the matrix and direct it into a bucket. I have , on the odd occasion , found a blockage ( glass and food stuffs – Rice/fat build up ) in the matrix connection which couldn’t been seen until the matrix was removed .

Participantbarneyb wrote:I found That if you dont refit the middle screw it gives the element a chance to move and expand ……. fingers are still crossed
Hi Barney , if you’re talking about the screw behind the fan blade , its best to fit it because the movement of the element could end up with the element rattling or in a worst case , striking and impeding the fan blade itself .

neptune wrote:Thanks for the replies. When you look at it like that , it makes sense. A few years ago, I did some work on my family tree. I have 5 siblings. My mother was one of 14 children. The Earliest ancestor I was able to trace was 7 generations back. If we make a conservative estimate that there were 6 children in each generation, just think how many people alive today ars deccended from that one guy.6x6x6x6x6x6x6. or279936.You would need quite a big hall to invite them to a party!
Makes the Xmas card list slightly complicated as well !!!

ParticipantIf you surmise that you have two siblings….then 3 goes down to 2….rather than 1 going up to 2 . Big families were once the norm so you must look backwards from the number of kids not just yourself !!!

ParticipantCan i ask what the theory is behind the running of elements with the earth disconnected for a few minutes ? Is it to clear the element of moisture in some way ? Its not soemthing i’ve heard of before….and Graham , is this what you mean when you say your supplier bakes them ?

ParticipantA good result in the end…especially for us Chelsea boys. A win at Wigan ( and we’re already two up ) will move us into 3rd place , just 3 points behind . Its hotting up !!!!

ParticipantAs Greg says , check the mains socket . It could be a scenario where the plug has ‘sunk’ into the rear ‘tarmac’ of the appliance and could be being pulled out slightly as the machine heats up and expands . Also , if its been hard-wired , you can have probs with loose electrical connections in the socket where , again , as it heats up due to the power draw of the heater , the connections can become dis-connected which then re-connects as the wires cool down .
Personally , i’ve not heard of a motor cut-out affecting the whole board .

ParticipantI know you said that you cleaned the spray arms and that they were working but did you see the top spray arm actually spinning ? I’ve had the odd occasion where i’ve thought i’d cleaned out the spray arm , only for a hidden ‘gem’ to get pushed back into one of the jets on first use .

ParticipantIs it anything like Barratt Holmes ? They’re quite well built …… 😆

In my case the machine never filled the tub at all, instead the moment you switched it on the water came in ( for about 1 second) then the pump for a second or so, then filled for another second and so on………no water in the tub so the mushroom float remained dry all the while?
Bugged if I know what was happening? :rolls:
Well it is only a theory 🙂 ……i think these faulty flow meters can cause some very odd faults with these machines. It is reccommended that they are fitted in an ‘upright’ position yet the pipework isn’t long or flexible enough to put them in this position
nomadPaul
ParticipantIf its the plastic base model and its filling emptying filling emptying , it could be well be the flow meter . The flow meter being faulty will cause this problem . Part No is 424099.
I think what happens is that the flow meter (or impellor jug to give it its official title ) gives false information to the module , tricking the module into thinking the water is coming in at a much slower rate than it actually is . This means the inlet valve stays open for a much longer time and so overfills….this in turn sets off the mushroom safety valve. This in turn leads to the continual fill drain cycle that you’ve got .
It might be worth replacing this first before going down the expensive route
