    Re: TDS Installation.

Thanks again. I had thought I would have to go to the shut down menu and select “Switch User” to login as admin. If I do that I get asked for a password and I only know the one I normally use…….I just tried doing the right click on the desktop icon and it gave me the “Run as Administrator” option so I got it working that way. I was puzzled about where it puts the shortcuts for TDS as there was nothing appearing on the desktop or program menu and I was having to move a shortcut to the desktop during the setup to access the application. I suppose it was putting shortcuts in the admin. user menus rather than the normal user.
I preferred the old fashioned versions of Windows when everyone had access to everything. :rolls:

Thanks for the replies. I just tried the command prompt bit but it didn’t work as it failed to find the file (which does show in the system32 directory). I was not logged in as administrator as I don’t know the password for that. The laptop was set up by my father who passed away last year.

Unlike Hoover, Whirlpool etc. I don’t think the Creda / Hotpoint heaters do come with the stats. Sometimes these heaters can be damaged by vibration from a washing machine next to or under the dryer. If the washer is on spin when the dryer element is heating, the vibration can shake the element to pieces. It is therefore best in such situations to only run one appliance at a time.

I carefully avoid asking anything like that, I generally ask “What’s happening with your machine (or cooker or whatever)?” i.e. just ask about symptoms.

If the element has clearly failed you might as well just change that initially. As you say, there are 3 thermostats but it is nearly always the 2 on the heater that fail so there would be no point in changing all 3. You can check them for continuity with a multimeter set to a low ohms range or equivalent. They should be short circuit at room temperature.

    Probably needs a thermostat kit:

These stats are mounted on the heater assembly which is accessed by removing the back cover. Try to remove any build up of fluff as it can lead to poor air flow and premature thermostat failure.

Are you sure the board quoted is ready to fit? They now have a system called “Smart Card” where you buy a generic board which has to be programmed using a special device and card. If you do need a board you are better getting an exchange one from EMW.

Check the resistance of the hot water valve solenoid. I’m not sure about your model but on some machines they fill for a while with cold then continue filling with hot.You could try filling the machine with it set to D then move it right round to C to see if it completes the wash that way. It could be the heater but then I would expect it to stick on all the washes.

    Re: Siemens combi oven temperature

This is fairly typical. The sort of temperature control devices used in domestic appliances are not calibrated and are manufactured with fairly wide tolerances. More accurate controls exist but they are much more expensive and their use is limited to more critical applications such as scientific and industrial equipment. Your best bet would be to simply allow for the discrepancy by increasing the temperature setting slightly.

    Re: Indesit wg1130t belt

For future reference, fitting the belt is very easy. You put it round the motor pulley first then hold it taut against the drum pulley with one hand and rotate the pulley with the other. As the pulley turns the belt jumps into place.

Re: Whirlpool AWM 6163 motor / tacho fault?

You can test the tacho coil using a multimeter set to ohms. You can trace the wires from the coil to the multi pin socket. It should read a few hundred ohms. If it has been getting hot you may have a failed rear motor bearing. Fortunately the rear one can be renewed but you may have to drill out rivets and replace with bolts if dismantling the motor.

Did you check for dry joints on the PCB ? When it’s not working properly you can try pressing pause then keep pressing skip until you have skipped all the different stages. There should then be a click as the door unlocks. If the door stays locked it could well be in a fault safety shutdown mode. You could also check that any PCB edge connectors are secure. You can use a very small screwdriver to bend out each contact slightly to grip the PCB tighter. Obviously you need the machine unplugged before trying things like that.

    Re: Electrolux D/W ESL624

I’m now wondering if the problem is with the impulse drying system. Apparently the heater is only meant to be switched on for brief periods, 30 or 45 seconds at a time. Perhaps the switch contacts in the timer for this have welded together and it’s staying heating for the full 10 to 11 minute drying cycle? I should have bought one of them plug in power monitor devices. :rolls: I can test it with the multimeter on the heater connections though.

Have you checked for a dry joint on the relay terminals of the module PCB?

    not so sure…….

It’s such a tiny photo it is not easy to see what it is but remember that these washer dryers do have the concrete block on top and the heater box next to it.
