Jim.
the wording I chose wasn’t meant to offend anyone, perhaps I should have said ‘you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink it’ 😉
perhaps this will help to those who need help with saying NO

That is more than a little out of order, I too worked for a large company for years, I have been self employed for almost 29 years now. When I decided to go it alone, I was lucky enough to have a small ( very small) amount of redundancy pay and a wife in full time employment. Not all company employed engineers enjoy that luxury, they may be the sole wage earner with a couple of kids, not easy to walk away from a job in that situation. They still have a right to complain of undue pressure at work.So no , they do not get what they deserve and they do not ‘only have themselves to blame’.
There are not large numbers of small operators advertising for engineers and taking the plunge to go self employed is a big risk in the current financial climate.
Jim.
Jim,
I understand what you mean I have a family, the point I am trying to make is that people whom shout/complain about large buisiness and are protected by employment legislation, contract of employment , and trade unions but are afraid of the person whom has the tittle of manager or similar, and think if they complain they wont get promoted/advance (if the face fits/or work for free).
why go to work, winge every day creating stress on him/herself and family and not be prepared to do anything about it, any TU would protect someone that actualy wants to make their life enjoyable. any big buisiness will try to convince or motivate and individual/team into working for free so they can get big bonusses at the expense of an individuals life.
As you know life, its not a practice run, life is for living, live it. you have only one time on this planet .

Silversurferthere is nothing more anoying than people whom complain but are not prepared to do any thing about it, they are employed for 37 hours a week not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} productivity, Ive been employed by small family buisiness and within this environment tu are not required because mutual respect is built between employer and employee is good, providing you dont take the P.
In a large organisations like BG, directors/accountants squeeze the value of cost per job to maximise return for investors, and mgmt get promoted and big bonuses by delivering this return, leaving employees who go the extra mile working long hours on the promise of some possible bonus, lets face it you were self employed you wouldn’t make promises to a prospective customer you couldn’t keep, and neither would you work for free.
sometimes in life engineers employed by large organisations get what they deserve and should stop complaining unless they are prepared to stand up to work/life/financial balance, at the end of the day they have only themselves to blame.

compresors contain a motor which needs to be lubricated, this may have not had time to settle after transporting, and created a partial blockage which is the reason all manufacture recommend 24hrs before switching on.

(Sat) Engineer checked and said he thought it was the gasses and it would need re-gassed 👿 It couldn’t be booked it until 27th September. The engineer recommended we run down the freezer and switch it off as it will be costing a fair bit in electricity. 👿 👿Sale of goods act of any product under 30 days protects the consumer and you could demand a replacement or IMHO I would ask for money back and buy a decent brand (read posts on indesit product, not much praise for them. ) hotpoint=indesit group.
Although you may have commited yourself to a repair having admitted you have not followed manufacturers instructions.c2lass wrote:
I have always bought Hotpoint products all my life and never had a problem.the older hotpoints were pretty reliable but now as they are designed by indesit they are pants.
c2lass wrote:
The engineer kind of made a suggestion as to “well this is the problem when you buy on line” What difference does that make?? No difference if we had bought from Curry’s or On line, the freezer is faulty.contact trading standards you are still protected by sale of goods act, did you pay by credit card, they may be able to help.

Please please please can somebody help me what I should do next? Also does anyone have a contact for a senior person in Hotpoint I can direct my complaint to. I was on hold on their expensive 10 a minute 0870 number for 22 mins on Friday before someone answered!
imho you experience should tell you that they dont have an excellent customer service department and phonelines clogged up with customer complaints for thier unreliable products.hope this helps in some way.

I’ve cleaned the 8 years worth of dust from the internal gubbins of the fridge. (Behind the fan and around the cooling fins etc.)
I now have an error code of EA on the console.
I’ve taken the auto duct apart that channels cold air from the freezer to fridge and I’m beginning to suspect that the stepper motor which controls the flap has an intermittant fault, or short, leading to the unit tripping the house RCB.
Any ideas?
the freezer evapourator has a defrost element (frost free) which comes on after a period of time , this may be the original cause of fault.
in relation to ea you may have knocked the conections if you have been tinkering around at the roof of the fridge. just a thought

Thanks for this – I think!
The last bit is /03 – wouldn’t care but it’s just out the wrapper – just installed yesterday – started it off and it filled with water then “hung” (sorry I’m an IT person!) – tried to reboot but to no avail…
Hopefully it’s covered by warranty
Cheers
Nickijust a thought, if you didn’t have a dishwasher before and you have fitted the drain hose under the sink , check that the end has been cut off.
