ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF440
Thanks, I’ve not seen the machine, customer brought the bits to me. The part he says is for the display has 5 red wires, appears to have identical connectors both ends and plugs onto the end of the row of edge connector slots, next to the valves one. The board is marked J11 at that point.
Masterpart lists MDA1604539 as special order.Phidom
ParticipantRe: Kirby G5E
Thanks Tony, £399 for a motor 😯 🙄 Looks like the switch unit must come off the field coil somehow so I will be able to check motor continuity etc.

ParticipantRe: Kirby G5E
Well I got the motor assembly out but now it appears that the switches etc are in a rivetted casing. Does this mean you have to renew the whole motor if a switch fails?

ParticipantRe: Electruepart
I went to one agency repair job for Connect and that was enough to put me off! I say I went to a job rather than I carried out a repair because they never got round to supplying the new oven door required for the job 😕

ParticipantRe: Masterpart web site
Same here, I can get details of previous orders but I can’t order anything. Not good for sales methinks but perhaps it will be sorted on Monday.

ParticipantRe: Belling Classic 90DL/R
Thanks Dave. They say they got the correct part elsewhere and it is now fitted and working. I will just say the same as my suppliers, it was ordered specially for them and is not returnable.

If it’s anything like the machine I was doing the hose is ribbed so it would be difficult to see a hole.

ParticipantRe: Satisfy my curiosity…
I’ve often wondered about spin speeds, are they always what they claim? Sometimes there is an obvious difference in drum pulley size but in other cases it can be hard to tell which component makes the difference. I always suspected the older Hotpoint 800 spin machines actually did more than 800 rpm.

Thanks Dave. Yes pump is a standard Plaset 220 – 240 volt type. I hadn’t thought about the inlet solenoid coils, though I should have done 😳 I went to a Hoover New Wave last week where a short circuited solenoid coil was causing the machine to empty instead of fill up when on wash.
This is the sort of job I dread, deciding whether to spend over £100 on a part that I can’t return if my diagnosis is wrong. And it has to come up on a day when I’m running at about 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} efficiency with a stinking cold 🙁Phidom
ParticipantRe: Part P effect?
I’m tearing my hair out trying to find out if Part P has been introduced in Scotland. Someone told me it came in here on April 1st but I’ve just looked on several government/council websites and can’t find anything about it. I think lots of people here think it is in force because they tell me they are no longer allowed to do their own wiring work.

ParticipantRe: Electrolux RM120 Gas Fridge
Er, thanks Roly 😕 I now suspect there are bits missing so I may have to admit defeat and get another fridge. I’m told they had a flint ignitor which you spun round but mine does not seem to have one. There’s a gas valve and what looks like a thermocouple with a blue button on it. I suppose the button over-rides the thermocouple to allow gas through when lighting. You probably have to hold it in for so many seconds after the gas has lit.

eastlmark wrote:order and fit the whole cartridge, comes complete just as in the photo. Those electrue carbons are naff believe me.
The ones I ordered are supposed to be genuine Miele (MLE1689370)
That’s why I thought it odd that they don’t just clip in or whatever. Thats interesting, splitting the motor with it still in place, never thought of that.Phidom

I have the brush ring off, that was the easy bit…..
I can’t see how you could fit the belt from the front. The wire from the carbon seems to be welded to the holder part way down its length then extends to clip into a socket in the brush ring. Do I need to cut the old wire off and solder the new one in?

ParticipantRe: Van disaster
Sorry to hear of your troubles. My Doblo has given more trouble in 6 months than the Ford Courier did in 3 years so I’m thinking in terms of a Ford Connect van next time.
